Στη μνήμη τους δύο (από τα πολλά μου) ποιήματα 

για εκείνους που χάσαμε μα δεν ξεχάσαμε, 

την άσπρη παπαρούνα (Μήκων η Υπνοφόρος) 
       και την Κοκαΐνη που, 

όπως έχουμε πει, 

τόσα μάς δίνουν και τόσα μας παίρνουν.

However, a growing number of jurisdictions have decriminalised the possession of some or all drugs for personal use, including many pioneering examples from Europe. When done in line with the evidence and partnership with people with use drugs, decriminalisation has the potential to improve public health and human rights dramatically. However, when sub-optimal models are created or models prejudice some drugs over others, this potential can be missed, and new problems can emerge. Decriminalisation policies have always been permitted within international drug conventions. There has also been increased acknowledgement and promotion of this approach in recent years – most recently from a common position for the entire UN system. In this session, the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC) invites you to explore the arguments for decriminalisation and some of the complex and challenging questions which remain. Europe can become a global champion for effective, ‘gold standard’ decriminalisation approaches – just as it was for harm reduction adoption decades ago.

θανάτω πάντες οφειλόμεθα...

ΤΟ ΣΚΑΚΙ

Σα Σεχραζάντ που το χαμό της κάθε αυγή τον αναβάλλει

κάνοντας το Σουλτάνο να τη θέλει πάλι

γι’ άλλη μιά νύχτα παραμύθια να του πει, 

έτσι ο καθένας μας το αιώνιο αυτό το σκάκι 

το παίζει με το Θάνατο από παιδάκι.

 

Kυκλώνουνε το σπίτι οι στρατιές των πεθαμένων 

και μου ζητούν να τους ακολουθήσω
μα στη σκακιέρα κολλημένη λέω: «θα καθυστερήσω, 

θα έχετε φύγει ώσπου να ετοιμαστώ».

Xτυπούν διακριτικά και μου φωνάζουν

πως όσα ζω σ’ αυτούς όνειρο μοιάζουν

και πως ο πόνος μου είναι δυστυχία περιττή.

 

Μα κι αν ο Θάνατος θα την κερδίσει την παρτίδα, 

αναβολή της ήττας είναι η δική μου ελπίδα.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 8 / 3 / 2023

Η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Της Γυναίκας δεν είναι γιορτή, είναι ημέρα πένθους και αγώνων κατά της παραδοσιακής καταπίεσης των γυναικών, είναι ημέρα διεκδικήσεων.

Κι αν όλες οι γυναίκες ακόμα αγωνιζόμαστε για τα δικαιώματά μας, εμείς οι γυναίκες που παίρνουν/έπαιρναν ψυχοδραστικές ουσίες, έχουμε να παλέψουμε σε περισσότερα μέτωπα. Από τη βία του αστυνομικού ή του εμπόρου, τους κινδύνους του δρόμου και της φυλακής ως την κουλτούρα που στιγματίζει τη γυναικεία απόλαυση και αντιμετωπίζει με καχυποψία κάθε γυναίκα που τολμά να απολαμβάνει την ψυχαγωγική χρήση  τιμωρώντας μας  αμείλικτα (τάχα για το καλό μας) στερώντας μας ακόμα και τα παιδιά μας ή χρησιμοποιώντας τα εναντίον μας.

 

Γι’ αυτό πάλι φέτος το Δίκτυο Ομότιμων Χρηστών .Ψυχοδ/κων Ουσιών_PeerNUPS συμμετέχει στην καμπάνια που οργανώνουμε οι γυναίκες των ομάδων μελών του δικτύου EuroNPUD, EuroNPUD SisterWUD με μια αφίσα κι ένα σύνθημα ενώνουμε δυνάμεις με την παγκόσμια γυναικεία ομάδα για τη Μείωση της Βλάβης από χρήση (whrin Harm Reduction International).

WHERE ARE WE STANDING? CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED DURING THE HARM REDUCTION CONSORTIUM (HRC) MEETING

Among the many global efforts to eradicate the prohibitionist and violent views associated with the War on Drugs, the annual meetings of the Harm Reduction Consortium stand out. They represent a valuable opportunity to recognize the successes of the past year and plan the next cycle of events, as well as to learn from the different perspectives that each organization brings to the main discussion.

This year’s HRC meeting was held January 24-25 at the Crokepark Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. The agenda featured a number of key elements for the effective execution of international projects. Moreover, it was possible to broaden discussions related to the decolonization of the concept of harm reduction and the impact of women’s participation in decision-making spaces related with drug policy.

DECOLONIZING HARM REDUCTION

Colleen Daniels, Deputy Director and Public Health Lead at Harm Reduction International (HRI), shared her thoughts on the need to decolonize harm reduction and use this opportinity to aknowledge the history around the access to health services for people who use drugs. Among the main challenges Daniels mentions are the analysis of the structures of harm reduction organizations and the recognition of who has access to these key decision-making spaces, which have historically been mainly violent towards POC, indigenous groups and other vulnerable groups:

“Harm Reduction has traditionally been white male dominated. The agenda for harm reduction has been dominated by white donor organizations, and doesn’t really take into account a lot of the priorities that we see are needed in different regions of the world“

This analysis is vital to change the previous work format and give the necessary discussion spaces to different drug-using populations around the world. Colleen mentions how the priorities presented in the previous agendas formulated for drug policy and harm reduction focus on injecting substance use, which statistically speaking represents the user populations of Europe and the United States.

“If we look at Southern and Western Africa for example, we can easily see that drug use and harm reduction are just different there. […] We should be learning a valuable lesson about how harm reduction does not exist in response to HIV prevention. But the way that it’s been rolled out around in whole world is that it’s all about HIV prevention and harm reduction is just one
step into that“

Daniels concludes her interview by noting how the concept of “white privilege” has been camouflaged in an endless number of actions that do not tend to be identified as negative or problematic, but on the contrary seek to delegitimize a problem as specific and important to eradicate as colonialism and racism in drug policy.

WOMEN’S IMPACT ON DRUG POLICY

Daphne Chronopoulou (Chairwoman of The European Network of People who Use Drugs – EuroNPUD) and Ruth Birgin (Coordinator at The Women and Harm Reduction International Network – WHRIN) also shared their knowledge and perspectives around the history and impact of women in drug policy discussions.

“Drug policy has changed a lot in the past 10 years. In countries like Portugal, Spain and France women participate actively, they speak their minds and have no need to hide themselves. However, in other regions such as the Middle East, or even in my country, Greece, women are heavily affected by the (inner) stigma”

Chronopoulou concluded the interview by reflecting on the discussions generated during the HRC meeting and supporting the critique proposed by Daniels. In Greece’s case, there is a large number of female migrant drug users, who are treated inhumanely, kept in camps and, suffering such intense stigma, isolated from family and loved ones. These scenarios are highly painful for Daphne, as it has been difficult to find women who use drugs in her country who feel safe enough to actively participate in drug policy...

Eίμαι πολύ υπερήφανη που προσκλήθηκα να συμμετέχω στον ηλεκτρονικό Διάλογο με θέμα τις Γυναίκες, τη χρήση και την ηλικία.

Μαζί μου πολύ αξιόλογες φεμινίστριες με πείρα στο χώρο μας αλλά εγώ, πάντα, εκτός της φεμινιστικής κι ακτιβιστικής μου ιδιότητας μιλάω και από την πλευρά της γυναίκας με εμπειρία χρήσης.

Εμάς, το στίγμα κι η ηλικία μάς χτυπούν διπλά κι αλύπητα γι αυτό και χαίρομαι που η οργάνωση WHRIN με προσκάλεσε.

Όπως θα χαρώ πολύ αν παρακολουθήσετε (δυστυχώς το γεγονός έχει παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας και είναι στα αγγλικά με ζωντανή διερμηνεία μόνο στα ισπανικά).

Eίναι χαρά μου που, μαζί με σημαντικές φεμινίστριες,  με κάλεσαν να δώσω ομιλία με θέμα τη ντρόγκα και την ηλικία- θέμα σημαντικότατο που άπτεται του στίγματος και των προκαταλήψεων που θέλουν τη γυναίκα μόνο ως θύμα- αγνή παιδούλα που ο κακός ο λύκος παρασύρει- μα σε καμιά περίπτωση δεν τη δέχονται όταν, μεγαλύτερη, υπονοείται ότι απολαμβάνει τις ουσίες που παίρνει.

Η Ναρκοαπαγόρευση έχει στηθεί πάνω στην καλλιέργεια φόβου του φιλήσυχου πολίτη για «τον Άλλο»- ήδη από την αρχήμε εικόνες Μαύρου σκλάβου που έπαιρνε κόκα για να βγάλει νηστικός σκληρή δουλειά μα, αφού η κοκαΐνη ερεθίζει σεξουαλικά, εύκολα έγινε  επικίνδυνος, ο Άλλος που θα σου βιάσει την αγνή λευκή σου μάνα ή κόρη. Ύστερα, όταν προστέθηκε η Κάνναβη στα απαγορευμένα, ο Άλλος έγινε τεμπέλης Μεξικάνος, λιώμα χασικλωμένος κάτω απ’ το σομπρέρο του, που ξαπλάρει στα πεζοδρόμιά μας και υποβαθμίζεται η γειτονιά. Κι έτσι προχώρησε το αφήγημα ως σήμερα που ο ‘Χρήστης ναρκωτικών’ παραμένει «Ο Άλλος» κι επικίνδυνος: πάντα άνδρας, νέος κι άνεργος. 

Και δυστυχώς δεν είναι μόνο οι εφημερίδες αλλά κι οι νόμοι κι η περίθαλψη που χτίζονται πάνω σ’ αυτό το άκυρο στερεότυπο. Γυναίκες; Σπάνιες και, κατά την εικονογράφηση εφημερίδων, πάντα ημίγυμνες κι ασπρόμαυρες  σε πάτωμα ή βρώμικο κρεβάτι- και νέες βέβαια, θύματα.

Οι μεγάλες γυναίκες είναι αόρατες.. Είμαστε αόρατες. Διότι η ηλικία είναι ασυγχώρητη αμαρτία. Οι ηρωίδες μας, από την Ιουλιέττα ως τη Μήδεια είναι όλες κάτω των 50.

Μετά… μετά η κοινωνία δε μας έχει ανάγκη. 

Μάνες, σύζυγοι, κόρες- προσδιοριζόμαστε δια των ανδρών και «καλή γυναίκα»- «καλή» μάνα, σύζυγος ή κόρη είναι εκείνη που είναι πρόθυμη να θυσιαστεί, εκείνη δηλαδή που δεν υπολογίζει την απόλαυσή της. Η γυναίκα που κάνει χρήση, αυτόματα κι ε ορισμού λοιπόν είναι κακή» γυναίκα. Γι’ αυτό κι η κοινωνία μας που, θεωρώντας τη μητρότητα ιερή, επιτρέπει σε φόνισσες, κλέφτρες και απατεώνισσες να έχουν μαζί τους το παιδί τους στη φυλακή αλλά από τη γυναίκα που δε βλάπτει παρά μόνο το δικό της σώμα αρπάζουν τα παιδιά― κι όχι απ’ τη φυλακή μονάχα αλλά κι απ’ έω, από την κοινωνία, ακόμα κι αν η γυναίκα δεν έχει εγκληματήσει. Παράδοξο; Ναι, απ’ τα πολλά. 

Γι’ αυτά και άλλα μιλάω στο video, το στερεότυπο που κλείνει κάθε πόρτα θεραπείας κι επιβίωσης στις μεγαλύτερες γυναίκες.
